This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect when you access or use our website (the “Site”), apply for and participate in our programs and services (collectively referred to as our “Programs”), and when you otherwise interact with us, such as through our support channels. We may provide different or additional notices of our privacy practices for certain offerings or activities, in which case those notices will supplement or replace the disclosures in this Privacy Policy.

 

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of this policy. If we make material changes, we will provide you with additional notice (such as by adding a statement to the Site or sending you a notification). For example, we collect information directly from you when you apply for and participate in our Programs, obtain services from us, create an account, fill out a form, make a donation, sign up to receive our marketing communications, or otherwise communicate with us.

  • Government identifiers, such as your state housing authority renter ID number;

  • Financial information, such as your credit score range;

  • Demographic information, such as your gender identity, age, date of birth, disability status, racial or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, veteran status, annual income, number of people in your household, and highest level of education;

  • Information about your rental history, such as evictions in the past three years;

  • Employment information, such as job title, status, and salary; and

  • Other information you choose to provide.

 

If you make a donation to Housing Connector, we work with a third-party payment processor to collect and process your donation, including your name, billing address, and payment information.

 

Information We Collect Automatically

 

We automatically collect certain information about your interactions with us or our Site, including:

 

  • Device, Usage, and Activity Information: We collect information about how you access our Site, including data about the device and network you use, such as your hardware model, operating system version, IP address, and browser type. We also collect information about your activity on our Site, such as the route by which you access our Site, access dates and times, and browsing behavior (such as pages viewed and links clicked).

  • Information Collected by Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies: We use tracking technologies, such as cookies and pixels, to collect information about your interactions with the Site and our marketing communications. These technologies help us analyze your interactions with us and improve our Site and marketing communications. Information We Collect from Other Sources

 

If you participate in our Programs, we obtain information from the community and housing partners we work with. For example, we may receive your contact information, demographic information, employment information, and rental history from case managers, along with any additional information they choose to provide. Additionally, we may receive information about late payments, lease violations, and resident ledgers from property partners, as well as any other information they choose to provide. If you participate in a mediation, we may obtain information from community partners, property partners, or others regarding your dispute.

 

Information We Derive

 

We may derive information or draw inferences about you based on the information we collect. For example, we may infer your approximate location based on your IP address. If you participate in our Programs, we may also infer your household composition based on the demographic data we collect from or about you.

 

USE OF INFORMATION

 

We use your information for various purposes, including to provide, maintain, and improve our Programs and our Site. We also use your information to:

 

  • Create and maintain Renter Profiles;

  • Provide client Zillow access;

  • Provide customer service;

  • Resolve disputes;

  • Send you technical notices, security alerts, support messages, and other transactional or relationship messages;

  • Send you marketing communications (see the Your Privacy Choices section below for information about how to opt out of these communications at any time);

  • Process donations and send you related information, including charitable donation receipts;

  • Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with our Programs and Site;

  • Detect, investigate, respond to, prosecute, and help protect against security incidents, data loss, and other malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, and help protect the rights and property of Housing Connector and others; and

  • Comply with our legal and financial obligations.

 

DISCLOSURES OF INFORMATION

 

We disclose personal information in the following scenarios:

 

  • Vendors and Service Providers. We make personal information available to our vendors, service providers, contractors, and consultants who perform services on our behalf, such as companies that assist us with web hosting, payment processing, fraud prevention, customer service, analytics, and marketing.

  • Community and Property Partners. We disclose personal information to our community and property partners to provide, maintain, and improve the Programs.

  • Law Enforcement Authorities and Individuals Involved in Legal Proceedings. We disclose personal information in response to a request for information if we believe that disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law, regulation, or legal process, including lawful requests by public authorities to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.

  • To Protect the Rights of Housing Connector and Others. We disclose personal information if we believe that your actions are inconsistent with our agreements or policies, if we believe that you have violated the law, or if we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of Housing Connector, our residents and partners, the public, or others.

  • Professional Advisors. We disclose personal information to our legal, financial, insurance and other professional advisors where necessary to obtain advice or otherwise protect and manage our interests.

  • Non-Profit Transactions. We may disclose personal information in connection with, or during negotiations of certain transactions, such as a merger or acquisition.

  • Affiliated Entities. We may disclose personal information between and among Housing Connector and any current or future affiliates or subsidiaries.

  • With Your Consent and at Your Direction. We make personal information available to third parties when we have your consent or you intentionally direct us to do so. For example, if a Program participant asks us to help resolve a dispute, we may share information about the participant with the relevant community or property partner to provide this support. Additionally, if a Program participant requires a new case manager, we may share information about the participant with agencies to help locate resources for that participant.

 

We also disclose aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. Housing Connector processes, maintains, and uses this information only in a de-identified fashion and will not attempt to re-identify such information, except as permitted by law.

 

YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES

 

Account Information

 

You can access, correct, and delete certain information stored within your Renter Profile and Zillow account at any time by contacting your case manager. You can also contact us at info@housingconnector.com to request updates to the information we have about you.

 

Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies

 

Housing Connector uses cookies and similar tracking technologies, as described above. You can usually adjust your browser settings to remove or reject browser cookies. Please note that removing or rejecting cookies could affect some of the functionality of our Site.

 

Communications Preferences

 

You may opt out of receiving text messages and promotional emails from Housing Connector by following the instructions in those communications. If you opt out, we may still send you non-promotional emails, such as those about your application or participation in our Programs or donations you make to us. Your consent and associated mobile information will not be shared with any third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
